Steen went to Odense to play tennis with some friends. So I thought I would spend some time in front of my computer - and update our new blog. I am sitting in the living room, close to the christmas tree. Its dark outside, and inside too - except for the candles on the christmas tree. I am listening to sweedish christmas musik (Agnetha Fältskog). I love that cd, it is the christmas songs we always listened to when I was a little child, and we still use it when we are dancing around the christmas tree. It makes me feel like its christmas for real :-)
Yesterday I couldnt really get the christmas feeling in the beginning. I missed my family back in Norway so much, and we (steen and I) hadnt really prepared to much for christmas. We got a tree a few weeks ago, but we didnt take time to decorate it before yesterday at 4 pm. That was also the same time we started to prepare for the christmas dinner.
Well, we didnt sleep all day before that. But time flew so fast, we had to buy the last gifts, we went to church and spent some time with Steens grandma at a nursing home.
Then we hurried home and started preparations..... I was very sad at the beginning. It didnt feel like christmas at all. But when the christmas tree was ready I felt much better, and we had a nice evening after all. Steens mum helped us to make tradisional danish christmas food. I dont know what everything is called in english, but we had kind of a rib roast, with potatoes, brown potatoes (prepared in melted sugar), red cabbage and sauce. And for dessert we had ris a la mande and cherry-sauce. It tasted really good, even if we didnt get the dessert before almost 11.30 pm. Danish ris-a-la-mande tastes sooo good!
I got some really nice gifts. Steen bought me a pink woollen sweater from my favourite store - I love it! And from Steens mom I got wool slippers. I am always freezing, so that was a good gift. My parents also sent a gift. It was a very special gift - we got pictures of my grandparents at my mums side, and great-grandparents, and even some pictures from my great-great grandparents. I love pictures, and I have often looked at those pictures when I have been home at my parents house or at my grandfathers house. And now I have some copies of my own. And my dad even sent a family tree, who tells the names, birthdates/places of the persones at the pictures. That was a great gift. We also got a book/cd with norwegian christmas songs. I liked it, but I have to admit I still prefer the sweedish one I remember from I was a little child :-)
As I said it turned out to be a good christmas eve, even if it was very different from what I am used too - it was still good!
